the emperor's new clothes
Adapted by Timothy Mason
Produced by special arrangement with Plays for New Audiences
Step into a world of royal fashion and clever trickery! This vibrant adaptation by Timothy Mason breathes new life into the Hans Christian Andersen classic, offering a witty, fast-paced story that charms children and adults alike.
THE STORY
The Emperor is a ruler who cares more about his silk sleeves than his subjects. When two smooth-talking "weavers" arrive at the palace, they claim to possess a magical fabric that is invisible to anyone who is hopelessly witless or unfit for their job. As the Emperor prepares for his grand procession, the entire court—from the nervous Royal Tailor to the skeptical Minister—must decide whether to speak the truth or protect their reputation.
